  • Hinduism: Muktinath is one of the eight most sacred places for Hindus, known as the “Muktikshetra” (the place of liberation). It is believed that bathing in the 108 water sprouts (Muktidhara) and visiting the temple grants salvation from the cycle of birth and death.
  • Buddhism: For Buddhists, Muktinath is considered to be one of the 24 Tantric places. It is believed to be a manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion.

2.  Geography and Climate:

  • Muktinath is situated at an altitude of about 3,710 meters (12,170 feet) in the Annapurna Conservation Area. The area experiences cold winters and mild summers. Due to its high altitude, it’s recommended to acclimatize properly before visiting.

3. Access:

  • The most common way to reach Muktinath is by flying to Jomsom and then trekking or taking a jeep ride. You can also trek all the way from Pokhara, which is a longer but incredibly scenic route.
